Behind the Scenes of Cucumber Quench with our R&D Team

We are so grateful that our community loves our first Hydrate offering, Ashwagandha Bounce. But we also understand that each skin type and preference is different.

And so, to help you create a skincare routine that considers the needs of different skin types, our R&D team formulated another unique hydration product: Cucumber Quench, a soothing and lightweight gel moisturiser enriched with cucumber and xylitol.

To understand the process behind creating Cucumber Quench, we sat down with Dr. Rachna Rastogi and Anjali Gholap, our Heads of R&D.

Q. What is Cucumber Quench?

R&D: Cucumber Quench is a soothing and lightweight gel moisturiser enriched with cucumber and xylitol that gives the skin an instant boost of hydration. Well suited for normal to oily skin, Cucumber Quench is clinically proven to hydrate and replenish, while also minimising sebum secretion—leaving the skin looking mattified.

Q. What was the inspiration behind creating Cucumber Quench?

R&D: Cucumber Quench was designed keeping in mind the hydration needs for consumers with normal to oily skin. An oil-free clear gel formulated with our in-house developed Extensoflex™ technology, Cucumber Quench has a delightful structure and helps balance sebum secretion and maintain a matte-look.

Q. How is Cucumber Quench different from Ashwagandha Bounce?

R&D: Both Cucumber Quench and Ashwagandha Bounce are lightweight moisturisers. Cucumber Quench offers oil balancing and mattifying benefits also while Ashwagandha Bounce primarily focuses on skin hydration.

Q. Who is Cucumber Quench best suited for?

R&D: Cucumber Quench is especially suited for individuals with normal to oily skin types.

Q: What is Cucumber Quench made up of?

R&D: Cucumber Quench contains two skincare hero ingredients: cucumber and xylitol.

Cucumber is a member of the gourd family that originated in India and has been cultivated for thousands of years. They are particularly loved for their freshness and water content—an average cucumber is made up of nearly 96% water. In skincare, cucumber is known for moisturising properties and its ability to soothe the skin. It also helps condition the skin and enhance its smoothness.

Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar found in fruits and vegetables that is often used as a sugar substitute. It is known for its moisturising properties that not only hydrate the skin but also prevent further moisture loss.

Cucumber Quench is also made up of a PETA-approved vegan, cruelty-free, and clean formula that is free from sulphates, phthalates and parabens.

Q: How do I include Cucumber Quench in my Cleanse-Hydrate-Protect routine?

R&D: For skin that feels normal to oily, we recommend Cleansing with Sugarcane Soak, Hydrating with Cucumber Quench, and Protecting with Licorice Beam SPF 40 PA+++.
