So to understand more about the process behind developing Licorice Beam SPF 40 PA+++, our clear gel-based sunscreen that combines the power of licorice and ceramides, we sat down with Dr. Rachna Rastogi and Anjali Gholap, our Heads of R&D.
What was the inspiration behind creating Licorice Beam?
Both Patchouli Glow and Turmeric Shield [our other sunscreen offerings] have high hydration benefits due to the way we’ve designed their formulations. But after reviewing consumer feedback, we realised there is a gap in the sunscreen market for products that would appeal to users wanting a light, matte finish. This led to the design of Licorice Beam, a sunscreen in a clear gel format that gives the skin a healthy glow and hydrated look without the shine.
What sets Licorice Beam apart from our other sunscreens, Turmeric Shield and Patchouli Glow?
Each of our sunscreens has been formulated to serve different skin concerns and preferences. That’s why certain aspects between all three of them remain the same—such as SPF 40, broad spectrum protection, use of reef-safe sunscreen agents and ingredients to help protect from blue-light associated skin changes, and the inclusion of protective ceramides—each has a different texture and hero ingredient. On the other hand, Turmeric Shield is a soothing sunscreen serum that hydrates the skin while Patchouli Glow is an oil-format sunscreen that nourishes the skin.
